Times: 9am - 4pm
Class Fee: $399 (non-refundable), includes continental breakfast & lunch each day, all materials and lab fees.
Learn about the steps of executing a commissioned piece, from the mind of the artist to a complete presentation to the client. Artists and designers from several mediums; painters, architects, glass artists, etc. are invited to understand the potential of glass as a new material to work with. Narcissus' lecture will cover several topics all artists are confronted with when creating a commissioned piece, such as the analysis of the site the artist will invent for, development of initial raw ideas, techniques that will be used, the verbal description of the project, and much more. Students will end the workshop understanding the five basic components that are necessary in any successful glass project. In order for all pieces to soar, Narcissus believes that artists must have a love and curiosity for architecture, an appreciation of glass and it's light transmission, the many techniques that may be utilized when working with glass, dealing with the client as well as a studio, and the artist's own inspiration and themes and how they can be adapted to fit any environment.
