Bullseye Striking Glass

This is a Bullseye Color that Strikes. Bullseye produces some glasses that appear pale or even colorless in their cold form but “strike” or mature to a target color when fired to the right temperature. Stained glass and mosaic makers should beware of striking glasses. The unfired sheet colors for strikers vary widely and may not be suitable.

For Kilnformers/glass fusers some glasses appear pale or colorless and “strike” (i.e. change) to the target color only after reheating. Keep in mind that the resulting color may vary depending on variations in the temperature, atmosphere or amount of heatwork. For example, rapidly heating Ruby Red Tint Striker (BE 1824 30F) during the initial stages of a firing cycle can prevent the glass from correctly striking and give it a blue-brown cast (the sapphirine effect) as opposed to the Ruby Red color that develops with more conservative initial rates of heat.

For projects that are especially color-sensitive, we recommend fusing or torchworking a small sample of your glass before use, to best understand the final color result.

Bullseye Reactive Glass

Bullseye Reactive Glass colors will combine with (at least some) copper-bearing glasses to create previously unattained results. The glass also reacts with silver and gold leaf. Interface reactions may develop, ranging from subtle to dramatic, generally in an earthy, rustic color palette. Bullseye Glass encourages experimentation and exploration.

We stock Bullseye’s Double Rolled (30) sheets which have a flatter surface than single-rolled sheets and are ideal for fusing. Thin Rolled (50) are half the thickness of standard glass (1.6 mm) and exceptionally easy to cut.
