Glow Pigments

Glow Pigments

Make your glass art glow in the dark! Yellow and Aqua Glow Pigments will be a bright, luminescent addition to any art glass. This versatile powder works with any COE glass and can be used in fusing, casting, glass blowing, and lampworking.

To activate the glow, you need only expose the glow pigment to a light source for at least one minute for short term glow. For an extended glow time, expose the pigment to sunlight. Please note, glow times and brightness vary depending on many factors.

Sold in 1 oz bags, available in Yellow, Blue, and Aqua glow colors.

Directions for Use

Fusing:

As Glow pigments are not glass, they must be fully encased between layers, cast into glass or mixed with glass powder to use on a top layer. If mixing, do not exceed 20% Glow Pigment to 80% glass, or a 1 to 4 ratio.

The encased Glow Pigment will slightly affect your fusing schedule. Casting and fusing schedules tend to run higher by about 30-50 degrees F. at peak soak temperatures.

Do not exceed 1800 degrees F.

Must keep dry - always keep in double bag when not in use. Accumulation of moisture dulls the glow.

Can be mixed with enamels, glass powders, liquid mediums, etc. but after processing, dry as fast as possible to eliminate moisture that can destroy the glow.

Lampworking and Glassblowing:

This product has been successfully used by glass blowers and borosilicate lampworkers, but care must be taken to protect the glow pigment for extreme heat. This is done by immediately encasing the glow pigment much like the same techniques used when hotworking dichroic glass.

Do not exceed 1800 degrees F.
